Francine Vernac

A visual artist for nearly thirty years, Francine Vernac has exhibited her work (installations, paintings, engravings, calligraphies, drawings, artists' books) in Quebec, Canada and internationally. She founded and directed Le Loup de Gouttière, a Quebec City publishing house and gallery workshop, for more than twenty years. In 2007, she won the prize of the Canadian Institute of Quebec City, for her entire career, a prize highlighted by a major solo exhibition at the Maison de la Culture Mercier in 2009.

She was invited to participate in the "7 th International Artist's Book Triennial Vilnius 2015" which was presented in Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Austria, the United States and Australia, from 2015 to 2017. In 2016, she was a guest artist at the Symposium d'arts du Haut-Richelieu and at L'Art prend l'air in Hudson (Land Art).






In 2018, she exhibited solo at the Armand Vaillancourt Cultural Centre in Saint-André de Kamouraska and presented Le geste est une parole, with Gabriel Lalonde, a landmark exhibition, at the Diane-Dufresne Art Centre in Repentigny. She exhibits (collectively) at Galerie L'Œil écoute in Lyon, France (Passages et traces d'art) and at the Centre culturel Louise-Carrier
(Lévis).

She is a member of the Off Manif collective at Galerie Bécot (Québec) as part of Manif d'art 9 at Le Chenail Cultural Centre (Hawkesbury), and in April, she does a month's residency at Maison Félix-Leclerc (Vaudreuil-Dorion) in La Mez, followed by a solo exhibition in May Pour bâtir une maison.

Archive Contemporary is a fine art gallery based in Montreal. The gallery provides a platform for established and emerging artistic talent, promoting visibility through monthly group and solo exhibitions. Archive Contemporary also hosts events centered around discourse, creative career development and community building through its artist-led educational programming.
