Painting, Mixed Media

“I am absorbed by the complexity of our existence. I try to analyze who we are, what we have been, what we are becoming, considering the environment we live in and transform. I try to develop, through graphic illustration and painting (mixed media), a reflection on the temporality that guides us. I’m working on the transporting potential of the image by creating a dialogue between narration and abstraction.”

Furthermore, this abstraction represents something concrete but deconstructed by the space-time which is fixed. To clarify, unlike narrative language that is discursive, these abstract paintings describe a story / environment without being influenced by the notion of time.

By expressing myself through painting(mixed media), I try to convey a message simply by using dark and bright forms, colors and symbols. The starting point for these paintings is a figurative object that is then deconstructed. Symbols and colors become a description of this initial element that is deconstructed poetically and becomes a reflection of the/my world.

Eve St Jean studied Art History at l’Université de Montréal, supplemented by Archicture courses at l’Université de Montréal and  Environmental Design courses at l’Université du Québec à Montreal. Finally, by acquiring various knowledge within these varied programs, she chose to pursue her career in a self-taught way by integrating multiple artistic visions from across disciplines.
