Erik Nieminen is a visual artist born in Ottawa, ON, Canada and based in Montreal. He earned a B.F.A. from the University of Ottawa and an M.F.A. from Concordia University in Montreal.

Nieminen seeks to deconstruct the reality order to remake reality according the logic inherent in the painting process. He is predominantly interested in the dissolution of space, perspective, light, and time through varying degrees of figuration and abstraction.



Nieminen won the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series award in 2018, and has shown his work in solo exhibitions at High Line Nine gallery in New York, Galerie McClure in Montreal, and Albemarle gallery in London among others.
